Kevin Hawkes Visits

On November 18, author and illustrator, Kevin Hawkes, visited Madawaska Elementary School. Mrs. Tracy Boucher, librarian at Wisdom in St. Agatha, had Mr. Hawkes scheduled to speak to students on Wednesday, he spoke to students in Ft. Kent on Thursday, and was scheduled here from 8:15- 12:15. Mrs. Jeanette Michaud, the school librarian, organized this visit.

Mr. Hawkes grew up drawing a lot. He spoke to the students about how he looks at details of everything he sees. He looks at shadows, colors and lines of people, places and things. He now resides in Maine after getting his start in Boston.

Students enjoyed watching him draw. They broke out in applause after he would complete a drawing. Mr. Hawkes may have inspired budding artists with his creative drawings. See all photos here.
