Fifth and sixth graders in Mrs. Jandreau's science classes took a field trip to Micmac Fish Farms, which is located on the Caribou Road. The students are raising salmon in their mini hatchery in the classroom to help conserve the salmon population in Maine. Mr. David Macek, the hatchery manager, toured the students around the facility, fed the fish and caught a few to show the students a close up view of these adult fish. Students also saw the high tunnels that are planted. Those started as a community garden. Students asked many informative questions and ate lunch in the big community room. Mr. Macek did a great job touring and answering student questions. See all photos here.
