Fifth and sixth grade science students went out looking to identify birds around the school using the Merlin app. They did a sound identification and found four different birds in the area. When doing this last spring, they found up to twelve different birds. We went over the reasons for the limited amount of birds now compared to the spring. This was all to prepare for the Barn Owls unit we will be working on. We will look at their food web, adaptations and culminate with dissecting an owl pellet. If you would like to learn more about what they are doing, visit the website here. Photos are here.
